Eni SpA and Infrastrutture SpA have completed the construction of a 37-megawatt (MW) agrovoltaic facility in Montalto di Castro, Italy. The plant will produce over 70 GWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the annual energy needs of over 22,000 households. This is another step in Eni’s goal of reaching 10GW of installed capacity from renewable sources by 2028. Additionally, Eni’s renewables arm, Eni Plenitude, has signed a deal with Saipem SpA to apply a proprietary floating wind technology, STAR 1, in two projects in Italy. The technology will be used in the 7 Seas Med and Ichnusa Wind Power projects, which are currently in the development phase. The collaboration is expected to create value for the offshore wind sector and the national production chain. Overall, these developments demonstrate Eni’s commitment to renewable energy production in Italy and its efforts to support the country’s energy transition.
