In Uzbekistan, new regulations will take effect on June 1, 2025, aimed at improving energy efficiency in buildings. A presidential decree requires new construction and building renovations to include energy-saving equipment, alternative heating systems, and renewable energy installations. The Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services will oversee the installation of required equipment and ensure insulation and metering devices are installed in new buildings. All projects, including public-private partnerships and private investments, must adhere to these requirements. Additionally, all social facilities will include energy-efficient sanitary and hygiene facilities, and boiler capacities must be designed to cover heating needs. Tariffs for heating services will be regulated by the Interdepartmental Tariff Commission, and heating enterprises cannot designate boiler facilities as unused or put them up for auction without approval. The Ministry of Economy and Finance will update documentation and develop financing mechanisms for energy-efficient projects. Uzbekistan aims to install solar panels on 250,000 buildings and connect 135,000 apartments to centralized heating systems this year.
