Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in India to adopt the agrivoltaics project, which integrates agriculture and solar power generation on the same land. This initiative aims to optimize land use in a state with limited land availability and benefits both farmers and the economy. The project was approved by the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) of the Ministry of Finance, and Uttar Pradesh will receive financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Rs 4.15 crore. The state government plans to prepare a comprehensive policy on agrivoltaics in collaboration with the central government. This initiative is expected to provide additional income to farmers, increase energy production, and promote sustainable development. The project supports India’s clean energy and sustainable agriculture policy and can serve as a model for other states. The state government hopes to take Uttar Pradesh to new heights in the renewable energy sector with this initiative. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s economy and environment.
