3F Oil Palm is expanding its drone-based precision farming program nationwide after a successful pilot in Andhra Pradesh, covering 1,150 hectares and benefitting 500 farmers. The pilot, which took place over three days, used drones to survey 800 plots owned by 530 farmers, mapping the area with precise GPS coverage. The goal was to monitor plantation health, detect pest and nutrient deficiencies, and estimate fresh fruit bunches. The success of the pilot has led to plans to scale up the initiative to 30,000 hectares, covering 14,000 farmers and 21,000 plots, providing advanced agricultural solutions to farmers. As per Kilari Srinivas Rao, Head of Agriculture at 3F Oil Palm, this demonstrates the company’s commitment to using technology to improve farming efficiency and make farming “smarter”.
