A scout hall in Christchurch was burgled and vandalized over the weekend, causing around $10,000 in damage. The thieves targeted two outdoor heat pumps, removing the cage, cutting copper pipes, and dismantling the units. They took some parts to sell for scrap metal, worth around $10-20, but the damage is much greater. The hall is used by multiple groups, including scouts and guides, and is a community facility that also hosts events. The incident has caused disruption and frustration for the volunteers, who are now having to deal with the aftermath. Police have been informed, but there has been no follow-up so far. The leader of the group is appealing for help to replace what was lost, saying it would make a huge difference.
