A historic social housing estate in London, Sutton Dwellings, has been awarded the Green Heat Project of the Year at the 2025 UK Green Business Awards. The project, which involved the installation of a networked heat pump system by Kensa, has decarbonized heating for 81 flats and provided a replicable model for delivering low-carbon heating in urban and heritage buildings. The system, which includes ground source heat pumps and a network of boreholes, has reduced heating bills to as little as £300 per year for a one-bedroom flat. The project demonstrates that even ageing buildings can be successfully retrofitted with low-carbon heating, preserving their historic appearance while providing warm and comfortable homes for residents. This is the second major award win for the project, which has been recognized for its innovation, teamwork, and vision in tackling heat decarbonization in a technically challenging residential space.
