Hyundai is advancing its efforts to improve vehicle circularity through its Car-to-Car Project, which incorporates materials recycled from end-of-life vehicles into new car production. The company has outlined its circular economy strategy in its 2025 Sustainability Report, focusing on three core pillars: environment, social, and governance. Hyundai is expanding its use of recycled plastics, bio-based materials, and sustainable materials in its vehicles. For example, the IONIQ 5 features armrests and seat covers made from recycled PET and bio-based fabrics. In 2024, Hyundai recovered around 200,000 tonnes of resources from end-of-life vehicles and is developing a battery closed-loop system to reclaim core materials. The company aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045 and is committed to sustainable mobility. Hyundai’s president and CEO, José Muñoz, stated that the company has made significant progress in reducing the environmental impact of its vehicles and is dedicated to ensuring a better quality of life for future generations.
