Aptar Pharma has announced that its Freepod nasal spray pump, used in Haleon’s Otrivin brand, is now made with mass balance bio-based resins. This is the first Aptar delivery system to use such materials and be commercialized globally. The pump and bottle components are made from 52% and 100% bio-based content, respectively, resulting in an overall circular material content of 60%. The manufacturing site and supply chain are ISCC PLUS certified, ensuring full traceability of materials. This partnership between Aptar Pharma and Haleon supports Haleon’s goal to reduce virgin petroleum-based plastic use by 10% by 2025 and by a third by 2030. The use of bio-based resins reduces the use of fossil-based materials in healthcare primary packaging. Aptar Pharma is committed to sustainability and innovation, and this launch demonstrates its commitment to developing solutions that respond to consumer demand for more sustainable healthcare delivery technologies. The company strives to reduce its environmental impact and support its partners in achieving their sustainability goals.
