CHEP Australia, a subsidiary of Brambles, has taken a significant step towards its net-zero emissions goal by installing electric heat pumps at its Kenwick Service Centre in Perth. The new system replaces natural gas-powered systems and is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 193 tonnes per year. This initiative aligns with Brambles’ decarbonisation strategy, which aims to reach net-zero emissions by 2040. The electric heat pumps are powered entirely by renewable electricity and produce no greenhouse gases, making them a more sustainable option. This is part of a broader national strategy that includes deploying electric forklifts, installing rooftop solar, and optimising logistics to reduce transport inefficiencies. CHEP Australia plans to expand the rollout of electric heat pump systems across its service centres in Australia and New Zealand, with a global deployment strategy set to unfold before 2030. The company’s efforts support global initiatives such as the Global Power Systems Transformation and contribute to the development of clean, scalable technologies.
