Ideal Heating’s new £19.2m UK Technology Centre in Hull is nearing completion and is set to open in September. The facility is part of a larger £60m investment in the company’s Hull site and will enhance its R&D capabilities, particularly in low-carbon technologies such as heat pumps. The centre will bring together over 100 R&D specialists and feature six climatic chambers, allowing for product testing in extreme temperatures and environments. Additional test facilities include hemi-anechoic sound chambers and electromagnetic interference test facilities. The UKTC has been designed to BREEAM standards with sustainability features such as LED lighting, air-source heat pumps, and solar panels. The project has received £2m in seed capital funding from Humber Freeport. Ideal Heating’s R&D team will relocate to the centre in phases, with product testing set to begin in September. The facility will also include an in-house training room and 3D printing facility for producing prototype components. The UKTC is expected to accelerate and advance the development of Ideal Heating’s products, bringing significant benefits in time, cost, and efficiency.
