The groundbreaking ceremony for the 13-hectare Sungai Sebiew Precision Farming Park was held on July 29, 2025, in Bintulu, marking a significant step forward in Sarawak’s efforts to modernize its agriculture sector. Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom officiated the ceremony, stating that the park will be a hub for modern agriculture, focusing on precision farming using advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT). The initiative aims to attract youth participation in the agriculture sector, which is seen as the future of modern agriculture. Dr. Rundi emphasized the importance of quality and sustainability over land size, and expressed hope that the project will surpass similar initiatives. The park is expected to contribute to Sarawak’s digitalization agenda and increase revenue through the export of live animals. The project is a collaboration between the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, the Sarawak Department of Agriculture, and the Sarawak Land Development Board.
