The CoSI 2025 conference showcased the latest advancements in coatings research, with 30 sessions and 20 scientific posters. Notable presentations included Gianmarco Griffini’s talk on stimuli-responsive coatings that can self-heal using temperature and light, and Zahida Malik’s research on transparent hydrophobic coatings for photovoltaic efficiency. Ana Suárez-Vega presented PFAS-free non-stick coatings for kitchenware, using bio-based monomers and sol-gel chemistry. The conference highlighted the potential of coatings to enhance durability, sustainability, and energy efficiency in various industries. With over 80 attendees from leading companies, the event fostered networking and collaboration between academia and industry. Social activities, such as a gala dinner and cocktail-making course, provided opportunities for attendees to exchange ideas and establish partnerships. CoSI 2025 addressed pressing challenges and opportunities in the coatings sector, focusing on sustainability, stimuli-responsive materials, and bio-based innovations. The next CoSI conference will take place in June 2026, continuing to advance coatings science and facilitate collaboration between academia and industry.
