A new collaboration agreement has been signed between Daikin and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) to further their work in low carbon heating. The agreement, signed on June 17, 2025, at the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, marks the beginning of a five-year partnership. Daikin has been designated as the first member and Chair of the newly formed Greater Manchester Low Carbon Heating Industry Group. The partnership aims to drive innovation, develop green skills, and support communities in the region. Over the past two years, the previous Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Daikin and GMCA has delivered nearly £0.5m worth of social value to the city-region, including the installation of 1,500 heat pumps. The new agreement will focus on achieving the GM 5-Year Environment Plan target of installing 64,000 low carbon heating systems by 2030. Daikin has committed to a forward programme of investment, innovation, and deployment, and will work with other organizations to accelerate low carbon heat deployment in the region. The partnership aims to support Greater Manchester’s mission to achieve carbon neutrality by 2038.
