Photosol, a French renewable energy company, is planning to establish an office in Romania to oversee its operations in Romania, Bulgaria, and the Western Balkans. The company aims to develop a portfolio of solar power projects totaling 1.2 GW by 2030, with a focus on ground-mounted facilities before moving on to agrivoltaics. Photosol’s International Development Director for Strategic Development, Cyril Perrotey, highlighted Romania’s dynamic market, favorable economic environment, and strong growth rate as key factors for the company’s investment. He also noted the country’s ambitious renewables target of 8.2 GW by 2030, which is a significant opportunity for the company to capitalize on. Photosol will primarily use commercial power purchase agreements to secure half of its revenues and is currently developing solar power projects in Italy, Spain, and Poland. The company’s previous experience with turnkey deals for PV systems for landowners has positioned it for success in the Romanian market.
French company Photosol will construct a combined total of 1.2 gigawatts of solar power plants in the Balkans region.
