Hexagon has acquired Septentrio, a Belgian company specializing in high-precision GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technology, to strengthen its offerings in autonomous agricultural applications. Septentrio’s technology provides centimeter-level accuracy and robust signal reception, making it ideal for autonomous farming equipment, such as self-driving tractors and robotic implements. The acquisition combines Hexagon’s broad positioning portfolio with Septentrio’s innovative GNSS platforms to accelerate the development and deployment of high-precision positioning tools for autonomous farming equipment. The combined offering will support mission-critical autonomy in agriculture, enabling real-time kinematic (RTK) corrections, precise point positioning, and anti-jamming technologies. The integration will also enable Hexagon to better support original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and agricultural technology innovators, helping to drive the adoption of automation and sustainability in agriculture.
