The Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) is a non-profit organization that aims to improve compatibility between different manufacturers’ agricultural equipment. The organization will be hosting its spring plugfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from March 31 to April 3, in conjunction with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). The event brings together dozens of technical teams from across the industry to test the compatibility of their products and ensure seamless communication, making equipment more effective and making farmers’ jobs easier. The AEF plugfest has been running since 2001 and has successfully ensured that manufacturers of tractors, implements, and components interpret the ISO 11783 standard in a compatible way. The organization’s recent expansion has focused on future technologies such as wireless in-field communications, high-speed ISOBUS, autonomy, and agricultural interoperability network. AEF’s goal is to create a global standard for interoperability, allowing farmers to use equipment from different manufacturers seamlessly, thus improving efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. The plugfest is open to AEF member companies, with over 300 companies participating, including major brands such as AGCO, CNH Industrial, CLAAS, John Deere, and others.
