Invinity has acquired the rights to develop, build, and operate a 20.7 MWh vanadium flow battery system in the South East of England. The project, VFB BESS, will be co-located with a solar PV array and will be the largest deployed by Invinity to date. The company will have full ownership and control of the site, allowing for unrestricted access to trading and operating data. The project is expected to generate revenue and positive cash flow for Invinity, and will provide a high-profile reference site for the company’s LDES battery technology. The project is funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero through the Longer Duration Energy Storage Demonstration competition, with the company contributing the remainder of the funds from its own cash resources. The project is expected to commence construction in H2 2025 and operate in 2026, and will have a total cost of up to £20 million.
