Kansas State University is hosting a conference from July 27-29 for high school seniors and college students to explore careers in precision agriculture. The Smart Farm Challenge Precision Agriculture Workshop will provide hands-on activities, such as flying drones and collecting field data, and opportunities to engage with industry partners. Students of any skill level are welcome to attend and will learn from faculty at the university’s agronomy facilities and farms. The cost of the workshop is $50, which includes meals and housing, and registration is available online until July 11 or when full.
The workshop is sponsored by the College of Agriculture’s department of agronomy and the CHS Foundation, and is part of the Precision Agronomy Teaching Hub (PATH) initiative at K-State. The initiative aims to advance digital agriculture and data analytics, aligning with the university’s vision. Up to 30 participants will attend the workshop, which will provide a comprehensive introduction to precision agriculture, data analysis, and variable rate application equipment. By attending the workshop, students will gain a deeper understanding of the career opportunities available in precision agriculture and make connections with industry professionals.
