The Maharashtra government has approved the MahaAgri-AI Policy 2025-2029, a comprehensive strategy to transform agriculture in the state using AI, drones, and blockchain. With a budget of Rs 500 crore, the policy aims to promote precision farming, weather forecasting, and farmer advisories, while supporting startups and digital infrastructure. The policy has several key features, including AI-powered platforms, digital public infrastructure, blockchain traceability, and farmer-centric initiatives. It also includes plans for institutional support, startup and PPP focus, and digital literacy programs.

The policy will be implemented in four phases, with a focus on strengthening weather advisory services and setting up automated weather stations in every gram panchayat. The government also announced an Annual Global AI in Agriculture Conference & Investor Summit to attract international collaboration and investment in agri-tech. The MahaAgri-AI Policy 2025-2029 aims to position Maharashtra as a national and global leader in AI-powered, sustainable farming, and is set to usher in a new era of smart, data-driven agriculture in India.
