Pyka, a leader in autonomous electric aviation, has announced its next-generation agricultural spray aircraft, the Pelican 2, which has been approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for commercial operation. The company has also secured a landmark order for 20 aircraft in Brazil, solidifying its presence in one of the world’s largest agricultural markets. The Pelican 2 features an expanded 300-liter payload and a work rate of up to 90 hectares per hour, making it the world’s largest and most productive autonomous electric agricultural aircraft. The aircraft’s design includes an upgraded four-motor electric propulsion system, a wider 18-meter swath width, dynamic droplet size adjustment, and five hot-swappable lithium-ion battery sets for continuous operation. The Pelican 2 is available for purchase starting at $550,000. Pyka has already demonstrated its capabilities on a global scale, having launched successful commercial operations with Dole in Honduras and secured a deal with SLC AgrÃcola in Brazil. The company’s public debut of the Pelican 2 will take place at the World Ag Expo in California in February 2025.
