XL Batteries has successfully commissioned its first commercial Organic Flow Battery, a revolutionary long-duration energy storage (LDES) technology. The pilot project was conducted in partnership with Stolthaven Terminals, a leading global provider of storage services for bulk liquids and gases. The Organic Flow Battery uses patented organic chemistry and flow battery architecture to provide a low-cost, safe, and reliable energy storage solution. The technology has the potential to address the limitations of current energy sources and provide a sustainable solution for grid-scale energy resilience.

The successful commissioning of the pilot project marks a significant milestone for XL Batteries and the industry. The company’s CEO, Tom Sisto, said that the technology has the potential to support Stolthaven Terminal’s operational efforts for the next 20 years and advance American energy resilience. The project generated valuable data for future commercial deployments and provides a low-cost, direct path to large-scale commercial viability for XL Batteries. The partnership with Stolthaven Terminals demonstrates the efficiency, duration, safety, reliability, and low-cost profile of the Organic Flow Battery technology in real-world conditions.
